My first venture into the world of “name your own price” left me more than a little disappointed. I checked into this heavily advertised site in an effort to score a good price on a New York hotel.
Earlier the same day, prior to making a purchase through Price Line, I’d seen a coveted NY hotel for $200 via Kayak (which provides a comparison on numerous travel sites) – and sadly didn’t select “buy” because I was late for a meeting (it was a 4 star!). Anyway, after several “bids” on Price Line mine was “accepted” at $199. Seconds later I logged onto the website of the hotel I’d “won” and noticed only an $8 difference in price. I called Price Line in an effort to cancel after realizing I could certainly find a better price than what they’d delivered (I believed).
I’ll tell you just this: Price Line is entirely serious about the fact that once you agree to the purchase, you are committed. No going back. So, be careful. The hotel, Hudson, A Morgan’s original was OK but very small. I’ll give you more detail on that later.
